Moving FAQ

Straight answers on rates, deposits, PCS timing, and coverage around Shreveport-Bossier.

Still stuck on something we didn’t cover?

Answer a handful of questions and get a firm number back in writing, with I-20 traffic and a spring storm off the Red River already priced in, so nothing extra shows up once the crew does.

Ten questions we hear every week, answered the way we’d answer them across a kitchen table. If yours isn’t here, send it with your quote request or call our office; a real person picks up Monday through Saturday. You can also browse our full service list.

So — are you a real moving company?
Yes. Hometown Movers is a licensed and insured household-goods mover based right here in Shreveport, LA. Every job runs on trucks we own with movers on our own payroll, and our Louisiana PSC registration plus interstate DOT and MC authority stays current and on file.
Will the same crew I talked to actually show up?
Yes. Our ten movers are W-2 employees in uniform, not day labor or subcontractors. The names Shelby gives you on the phone are the names on the truck.
What do you charge by the hour?
Two movers and a truck run $135 an hour, three movers $185. There's a two-hour minimum Monday through Thursday and three hours on weekends, and we bill in quarter-hour increments after that.
Can I get one flat price instead of hourly?
Absolutely. Most whole-home moves get a written flat rate based on your inventory, and that number doesn't move on moving day unless the inventory does. You'll have it in writing before you commit.
How does the $80 deposit work?
The deposit locks your date on our truck board and comes straight off your final bill. Cancel more than 48 hours out and we return it in full.
My Barksdale orders just dropped. Can you move me this week?
Usually, yes. We hold same-week slots for PCS moves at no rush premium because we know orders don't wait. Call our office as soon as you have dates and we'll juggle the board.
What happens if a storm hits on my move day?
Spring storms are a fact of life here, so we watch the radar all week. If a tornado warning or severe cell threatens your window, Wade calls you the night before to shift the start time or the day, at no charge.
Do you really cover all the towns around Shreveport?
All ten: Bossier City, Benton, Haughton, Greenwood, Blanchard, Keithville, Stonewall, Minden, Princeton, and Mooringsport. Same rates, same crews, no travel surcharges inside our service area.
Does my long-distance load share a truck with other customers?
Never. Your household rides alone on a dedicated truck with the same crew that loaded it, and it goes straight to your new address.
My apartment wants a certificate of insurance. Is that a problem?
Not at all, we do these weekly. Tell Shelby your building's requirements and she'll send the COI and any HOA paperwork over before move day, usually within a day.

What We Hold To

Six Promises We Keep On Every Shreveport Move

Every one of these is a working rule, not ad copy. Clint and the crew hold to them on jobs across Caddo and Bossier parishes, from a Broadmoor two-story to a new build out past Benton.

One Crew, No Substitutions

Whoever Shelby books you with is who shows up. A slow crawl across the I-20 bridge or a tight turn on a narrow South Highlands street doesn’t change who’s carrying your boxes.

Louisiana PSC Registered, Fully Insured

Our Louisiana PSC household-goods registration stays current year-round with US DOT and MC authority on file, cargo coverage rides with every load, and a certificate of insurance reaches a Bossier City or Haughton HOA board the same day they ask for one.

Our Payroll, Never A Staffing Agency

Every mover on your truck draws a paycheck from us directly. Jesse has run the same crew for years, and we don’t pad the roster with day labor just because Saturday got busy.

The Written Number Is The Number

The figure Shelby puts in writing is the figure you pay when the truck is empty, with nothing carved out after the fact. A backup on I-220, a long carry up a third-floor walk-up, a wait at a gated subdivision off Airline Dr: that’s ours to absorb, never yours.

Jesse’s Crew, Not A Rotating Cast

The crew Shelby confirms at booking is the crew at your door on move day. Nobody gets pulled off your job partway through to cover something else on the schedule.

A Window That Actually Holds

If the job ahead of yours runs long, that’s Wade’s problem to solve from the dispatch board, not yours. You’ll hear from us before it eats into your window, and we make it right if it costs you real time.

The Story Behind Hometown Movers

Shreveport's own crews, run by locals who came back home — same-week Barksdale PCS slots and one written flat rate before a single box gets touched.
